Answers to Frequently Asked Questions

1. Can anyone buy plants at High Ranch Nursery?

• General Public: Yes. The general public can purchase a selection of plants available through our website. The general public can come into the nursery on Fridays, 7:00am to 3:30pm for pickup only.

• Wholesale Customer: The wholesale customer, who must first qualify (use our wholesale application, cash only), has access to and can purchase all of our products at wholesale prices. Wholesale customers, once issued a login and password, can access the wholesale side of our website, including specials and price lists.

2. If I am an established wholesale customer, can my clients come to High Ranch to look at plants?

You are welcome to bring your clients with you to show them plants, but for liability reasons, your clients may not tour the nursery without you.

3. What's the difference between a "wholesale cash application" and a "wholesale credit application"?

A wholesale cash application establishes qualified businesses with a wholesale account to purchase from High Ranch Nursery using cash, charge card, or check (after the first purchase). It is a simple application that must be completed in order to purchase from us.

A wholesale credit application is an application that may be completed to obtain a credit account with us that has 30-day terms. Like any other application for credit, it takes some time to verify information, check references etc. In the meantime, businesses may purchase from us on a cash basis.

4. What is RPM®?

Great question! RPM® stands for Root Production Method, and refers to a patented process by which we grow some of our plants. The RPM® process includes a series of root pruning techniques designed to stimulate lateral root branching. These lateral roots produce more feeder roots allowing for better absorption of oxygen, water, and vital nutrients.  It has been proven that plants grown using this process grow faster, experience less transplant stress, and have higher survivability rate. Look for the orange RPM® tags on our stock! Click here for more information regarding the RPM process and its history.

5. What plants can the general public purchase?

California natives and selected ornamentals not generally available at retail nurseries.  The selections are listed on our website, through our online store section.

6. How can a general public customer order his/her selection of plants?

The order can be placed via the website, via email to sales@hrnursery.com, or via fax at 916-652-6771.  A fax or email confirmation will be sent upon placing the order.  HRN can ship the order, or the customer can pickup on Fridays, 7:00 am to 3:30 pm. For more information, please see our online retail Terms and Conditions.
