Retail Terms and Conditions
Sorry, we do not ship to Hawaii or out of the United States.
We ship our plants via US Postal Service to Western US and the Midwest, and UPS 2nd Day Air or 3 Day Select to the Eastern US.
We do our best to provide fair shipping rates that will bring our plants to you in good condition. Our shipping rates are as follows for the Western US and Midwest:
- up to 5 lbs. = $6.00 shipping and handling
- 5 to 10 lbs. = $10.00 shipping and handling
- 10 to 15 lbs. = $15.00 shipping and handling
- 15 to 20lbs. = $25.00 shipping and handling
- 20 to 25lbs. = $35.00 shipping and handling
If you live east of St. Louis, MO, we may have to adjust your shipping rate for your plants to reach you in time. If this is necessary, you will be contacted via email to add additional shipping and your order will not be shipped unti the added payment is received. This includes orders shipped to the following states:
Missouri (east of St. Louis)
If you are a local customer, you may choose "Customer pickup" as your shipping method during checkout. A $5.00 packing and handling fee still applies. Your order will be pulled and available for pickup on Friday between 7:00 AM and 3:00 PM at our nursery location.
To reduce shipping weight, we may remove the container and ship the root ball intact inside a plastic bag. All plants are packaged so that they will not dry out during shipment.
An automated order confirmation email will be sent to you immediately. If you do not receive it within 15 minutes, check your email spam filter, then email us from the Contact Us page.
We make every effort to ship your order as quickly as possible. Please allow three (3) to six (6) business days for delivery of in-stock items. Items ordered together are not necessarily shipped together. We will notify you if any item cannot be shipped within 30 days.
We DO NOT accept orders from outside the United States nor do we ship outside the United States.
We ship all year long. Some plants can only be shipped dormant, such as deciduous trees. The dormant shipping season is mid-November through mid-March. Most perennials can be shipped all year long. Acclimatization may be necessary for some plants. Our spring, that is, active tender growth begins around mid-March for us. If you live in a region where spring arrives later, the plants may need to "harden off" to the colder climate. If that is the case, keep the plants protected overnight, and give them warmer (above freezing) outside condition during the day for at least 1 week before planting out. Or avoid ordering them until all danger of frost is past.
Packing and Shipping Charges
There is a $5.00 packing and handling fee for all orders. This is automatically added to the shipping and handling fee. Shipping rates for UPS are dictated by order amount according to live shipping rates for the shipping service selected.
Receiving Plants/Customer Responsibility
Upon receiving you order, unbox the plants carefully and water them. They then are ready to be planted. If you do not plan to plant them right away, place them in a shady spot and water daily. Protect them from heat and frost. If they are shipped without containers, leave the rootball in the plastic bag, but roll back the plastic off the top of the plant. You can then water them like a normal container plant. Punch some holes in the bottom of the plastic for drainage.
Payment and Ordering
Our minimum order for plants is $20.00. We prefer orders made on the website. Orders can also be made via fax or email, but processing may take longer. Payment by credit card can be made online with the website order. It’s very safe to use credit cards directly through our secured server. We accept Visa, MasterCard and Discover. We can also take your credit card information via phone; call our sales number at 1-800-350-6640, option 1 for Sales. You can always leave a message and we’ll call you back. Also, it’s very safe to send in your credit card information via our sales fax line at 916-652-6771. NEVER send in credit card information via email. Email is great for sending us your questions, as our staff for phone questions is limited.
If mailing a check, money order, or gift certificate, be sure to write your Customer ID Number and/or Order Number on it. We charge $20.00 for any check returned by your bank for any reason.
When your online order is submitted, and automated order confirmation email will be sent to you immediately. If you do not receive it within 15 minutes, check your email spam filter, and if you still have not received the confirmation, please contact us.
We guarantee that our stock is healthy and ready to plant. We’ll strive to give each order personal attention, and pack the plants with the greatest of care to ensure their healthy arrival. If you are dissatisfied in any way, please notify us within 5 days of shipment arrival. If a plant fails to emerge out of dormancy, we will guarantee the healthiness outside this 5-day window. We cannot guarantee your gardening abilities, nor environmental or weather related problems from not occurring upon planting out. Therefore, you as our customer must accept this risk and accept our replacement policy. In addition, we cannot be held liable for any amount greater than the purchase price of the plant(s) in question.
